Trauma Counselling in Nottingham
If you are looking for trauma counselling in Nottingham, I am Elaine Bond, a UKCP registered Psychotherapeutic Counsellor based in Carlton, Nottingham.
I provide individual counselling and psychotherapy for adults aged 18 and over who have experienced trauma or are living with trauma-related difficulties.
Face-to-face sessions are available from my private counselling room in Carlton, Nottingham, with online and remote counselling also available.
Support for trauma and difficult experiences
Trauma can result from many different experiences and can affect people in very different ways.
I have experience working with adults affected by childhood trauma, emotional, physical or sexual abuse, domestic abuse, controlling relationships, military experiences, witnessing traumatic events and other distressing experiences.
The effects of trauma may continue long after an event has passed and can influence emotions, relationships, confidence, behaviour and how safe we feel in everyday life.
PTSD & complex PTSD counselling
I work with adults experiencing post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and complex PTSD (CPTSD).
Experiences can vary considerably from person to person, but trauma-related difficulties may include flashbacks, anxiety, low mood, emotional overwhelm, difficulties with trust, relationship problems, avoidance or feeling constantly alert to possible danger.
Counselling provides a confidential space to explore your experiences and how they may be affecting you in the present.
Dissociation & DID
Trauma can sometimes be associated with dissociation. I have experience working with adults affected by dissociative difficulties, including dissociative identity disorder (DID).
Our work is individual to you and takes place at a pace that feels manageable. You will not be expected to discuss experiences before you feel ready to do so.
EUPD & emotional difficulties
I also have experience working with people diagnosed with emotionally unstable personality disorder (EUPD), sometimes referred to as borderline personality disorder (BPD).
Counselling may provide an opportunity to explore difficult emotions, relationships, past experiences, patterns of behaviour and ways of coping.
My approach to trauma counselling
I work in a humanistic and relational way and adapt counselling to the individual rather than expecting everyone to respond to the same approach.
Our work may involve exploring experiences from your past, what is happening in your life now, relationships, patterns of thoughts and feelings, and the ways you have learned to cope with difficult experiences.
I will listen first and work collaboratively with you. Where appropriate, I may also draw upon approaches and techniques including CBT, ACT and creative therapeutic work.
You can learn more about my approach, professional experience and qualifications on my About Elaine Bond page.
