This is a really hard time to have mental health issues, Coronavirus or COVID19 is making us social distance ourselves from our friends and family. For some of us, these people help to stay mentally well and the anxiety, depression, and trauma feels worse when we deal with it on our own. There are some easy things to do to ease this -

  • Set up a WhatsApp Coronvirus support group with the people you normally rely on for support
  • Contact people and chat with them via Skype regularly sometimes just seeing a friendly face helps us to feel better
  • Go for a walk, just stay away from other people, the fresh air makes us all feel better
  • Stay away from rumor and gossip, panic is often started and escalated when the facts are not fully known
  • Watch the news but maybe limit it to once or twice a day, we can overload on bad news and feel really affected by why we see if it is repeated time after time
  • Eat well if you can
  • Find things to do, read more, paint, play music, its time to get creative which is so good for our mental health
  • Take time to care for your mental health, breathing exercises, yoga, mindfulness, whatever helps us feel calmer we can do at home
  • Be sensible and care for our hygiene means we know we are doing the best we can right now to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus/COVID19

We need to take care of ourselves and those around us who are vulnerable.

If you feel lonely or isolated and your mental health is suffering counseling is still an option. I am offering telephone and Skype counseling in this difficult time so please contact me if you need help
