7 Ways to Enhance Your Confidence

This article is written by a guest writer  - Diane Harrison

Confidence is an attractive trait that lets you know what you want and how to get it. If you don’t have confidence, it may be difficult to reach your goals, create fulfilling relationships, and make choices that bring you happiness and peace of mind. These seven tips presented by  Elaine Bond Counselling can help you build confidence to re-enter the world ready to live your best life and achieve your goals.

1. Start Working Out

Exercise releases endorphins, also known as happy hormones, in your brain, and this helps give you a confidence boost. Regular exercise also helps you lose weight, another confidence booster.

2. Eat Better

If you’re struggling with anxiety, it’s important to eat nutritiously. Having a healthy diet that includes foods containing a range of nutrients and antioxidants can help make you feel calmer and less anxious. Eating well has been shown to lower stress levels. By consuming healthy food, you put yourself in a better state of mind to build confidence.

3. Meditate/Relax

Finding time for yourself and taking care of your mind and body by doing something relaxing that you enjoy can help you combat stress, feel happier and more positive, sleep better, have more energy, and reduce anxiety. If you don’t know where to start, try a guided meditation. Other suggestions include listening to relaxing music at home or stretching after work.

4. Be Less Harsh on Yourself

Stop being so hard on yourself. Everyone makes mistakes, and people are often their own worst critics. Avoid putting yourself down or talking negatively about your past. Instead, focus on your strengths and be proud of yourself for who you are. Positive self-talk can go a long way toward building confidence.

5. Assess Your Strengths

Take an honest look at your strengths and seek out ways to build on them. Maybe you’re a great writer, or perhaps you're a charismatic public speaker. These are attributes you can utilize in new endeavours.

6. Take Chances

Every time you take a chance and try something new, you're building confidence. Whether it’s learning a new skill, having a difficult conversation, or even going for that promotion, all these things show other people that you have what it takes to be successful in life. Taking chances makes you feel good about yourself and builds confidence in your capabilities.

7. Make a Career Change

You can make a career change at any point in your life. Perhaps you need a change of scenery or want to try out an entirely new industry. Consider making a move that helps you build confidence. If you’re considering a career change, make sure your resume represents your accomplishments and highlights what you can do for an employer.

If you're serious about seeking a new job, find a freelance resume writer who can update your resume and customize it to your needs and your industry. To find one, check online job boards. Once you identify possible candidates, check their reviews, obtain cost estimates, and check delivery times.
